Maintaining a healthy routine is so important for your well-being. We understand that with the current lock-down, it can be easy to fall into an unhealthy routine due to lack of motivation. However, now is your time to use this template to plan your weeks and get back into routine!

Having a healthy routine means:
  • Improved stress levels: planning a routine means you are more likely to achieve your goals which will decrease stress levels.
  • Better sleep: Keeping yourself busy and in routine means that when it comes to bed time, you will have better sleep. Maintaining a healthy sleep routine is so important and improves our mental and physical health.
  • Improved health: Not only can routines help us feel better mentally, but they also help our physical health. Planning a daily walk or a food shop will of course support our physical health.
  • Self love: Creating a routine to achieve your goals will support you in your self love journey.
  • Decreased loneliness/ better relationships: Having a routine can mean you have more time to contact loved ones and also decrease loneliness.

Self care is so important in everyday life. Taking care of ourselves is what gives us fuel to reach our full potential. In lockdown, it is a sensitive time for everyone. So taking that extra time to make sure we are looking after
US is more important than ever! It is so easy to get caught up in worrying about our futures, about others, about what is happening around us, we sometimes forget about what really matters. Try to treat yourself like you would treat a friend, be gentle and avoid being too hard on yourself. You are important and you do deserve self care. Taking half an hour at least a day to do something positive that will make you feel better is not selfish, it is crucial.

Accepting yourself:

You may be aware of the term “self esteem” how we view our appearance and personality. But have you thought about the term “self acceptance” ? These two terms are completely different to each other. To develop a better self esteem we have to learn to accept ourselves first.

So, what does self acceptance require:
To accept ourselves, we must also look at our faults, mistakes and weaknesses. We must forgive ourselves for this and embrace them. Making mistakes is a part of life and we would not be human if we did not. It is important that we look at our mistakes as learning curves rather than what defines us.

From children, acceptance of ourselves is based on what parents/ caregivers accept from us. This continues through our lives as we enter education and employment. As a consequence, we learn to consider ourselves in negative ways. However, to truly accept ourselves we must step away from this. You must break the habit of judging yourself, by accepting your flaws and mistakes. Look at yourself as the human you are, and show yourself love and compassion. You understand that others make mistakes, grow and learn from them, so you must understand that you will too. We can take responsibility for our actions and ask for forgiveness, but we must also forgive ourselves too in order to move on.

As humans, we respond in ways which we feel appropriate at that time. We do the best we can. You must remember that, forgive yourself, and love yourself in order to accept yourself.
